Katarina Siliris, LCSW, OSW-C
Founder
Katarina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University and certification in oncology social work. Her career in mental health began as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist for children with autism, igniting her passion for working with children and families. This path led her to hospital social work, where she gained invaluable experience in pediatric emergency care and both adult and pediatric oncology.
In her private practice, Katarina specializes in supporting children, families, and adults navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and chronic illness. She has a particular focus on working with chronically ill children, bereaved parents and families, and new mothers adjusting to their evolving roles.
Katarina's therapeutic approach is warm, direct, and energetic. She aims to challenge clients to become the best version of themselves while ensuring they feel safe and supported. She utilizes evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and Strengths-Based Therapy. Additionally, she integrates somatic therapies and maintains a trauma-informed lens to address the holistic needs of her clients.
Waves Psychotherapy was founded to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where individuals and families can find healing and growth. The mission of Waves Psychotherapy is to ensure that everyone seeking help feels heard, understood, and empowered on their journey toward well-being.
Outside of her practice, Katarina cherishes spending time with her three young children, who bring tremendous joy and adventure to her life.
